International Terracotta Symposium - Turkey (June 2010)

I was invited to participate in this event taking place in Turkey in June 2010.
The symposium involved 2 weeks of intense making, with work being installed in permanent positions around the city of Eskisehir.
I made 3 pieces of work with the help of a fantastic team of hardworking students - a large free standing sculptural form based on a piece of my studio work, a large wall installation made from a combination of brick forms found at a disused brickworks in the city and bricks we made ourselves. The third smaller piece was made from wet bricks - carved and decorated with slips.

Supporting and promoting the development of the traditional terra cotta industry and production in Eskisehir; evaluating the artistic aspects of terra cotta from a diffrent point view, identifying it with the City’s image; delivering to the national and international public, the message of the characteristic cultural and historical heritage of our land within the context of an international event of culture and art. The 4th International Eskisehir Terra Cotta Symposium was during June 14-27, 2010.
